Assuming Durbin is Right, It Still Doesn’t Make Sense…

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) recently said,

“Every day, 70 Americans die prematurely because of a lack of health coverage…”

This, of course, is in dispute.  But assuming it were true — and with the caveat that every premature death is a tragedy — consider the fact that,

“Approximately 1500 people die each day in the United States due to cancer.”

When you consider the amount of time, energy, and money we have spent attempting to nationalize health care for 300 + million Americans this year, one wonders what might have happened if we had simply directed that amount of attention toward cancer research…
