Rep. Michele Bachmann recently joined us on The Matt Lewis Show podcast to discuss the health care debate.

She noted that Americans already know about the controversial Senate deals, but what we don’t know is, “What are the deals Nancy Pelosi is striking with House Members, in order to buy their votes?”

Regarding the “Slaughter Solution,” Bachmann told me, “It’s a violation of our Constitution,” adding, “Nancy Pelosi does not have the power to presume my vote.  She can’t presume how Congress would vote.  James Madison wrote this section in the Constitution for our protection.”

Bachmann also added that passing Obamacare via the Slaughter Solution would be “more offensive” to the American people than the Cornhusker Kickback was.

Rep. Bachmann also told me the Supreme Court would overturn health care if deem and pass is the method used: “This is easy.  This isn’t even a hard one to figure out … This is something the Supreme Court absolutely would overturn,” she said.

She also believes that forcing Congress to stay in session through Easter would backfire: “If you look at Scott Brown’s race for instance, he was down by about thirty points before Christmas.  Harry Reid pushed this vote to Christmas Eve, and you can tie the polling to the polling for the demise of Martha Coakley and for the rise of Scott Brown…to the vote on Christmas Eve … It seemed like something that was sacrilegious for Harry Reid to do, and I think you’d see somewhat of a similar response from people if Nancy Pelosi decided to do that in the House on Easter.”

Regarding her own re-election, Bachmann told me, “I’m a high-value target for Nancy Pelosi.”  She added that Nancy Pelosi, “doesn’t like to see conservative women succeed.”
