Uno Momento, Por Favor ...

Buenos Dias from Buenos Aires!

First, some business: I've got a quote in The Trail today...

It's very nice here. Muy bonito. So what have I noticed that is different from the USA?

... Traffic lights turn yellow before they turn green (as well as red).

... Dogs roam free. Apparently there are no leash laws. This, of course, causes some sanitary issues (as I discovered on the sidewalk today).

... Taxi drivers here drive dangerously. Despite the beauty of the classic buildings, there is more graffiti than you would think. There are also lots more air conditioner units and antennas than Americans are used to (this is sort of a 1980s look, I think)..

... Of course, Argentina is famoso for beef, Evita, and Polo.

Muchos gracias!

That strikes me as decent advice for political candidates, too ...

WSJ: Talk Is Cheap in Politics, But a Deep Voice Helps

"Voice matters -- it's what sells, says John Daly, a University of Texas communications professor who has written a book about persuasion. University of California at Los Angeles psychology professor Albert Mehrabian even claims to have quantified how important a voice is. When we are deciding whether we like the person delivering a message, tone of voice accounts for 38% of our opinion, body language for 55% and the actual words for just 7%, his studies suggest."
