Staying on Message

Jonathan Martin reports:

Repeatedly burned for wandering off on rhetorical tangents, Senator McCain stuck to his message today on the Treasury-Fed plan to shore up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

From an avail he just had in Phoenix, per the pool report of Adam Aigner-Treworgy of NBC News & National Journal Group:

Q: "On support for the Fed's action, do you support Paulsen's increased line of credit?

McCain: "I do."

Q: "Could you flesh that out?"

McCain: 'I support it."

Somewhere, Steve Schmidt is smiling.
